Change is Good...Right?

Change is good.  It's also growth.  Change can be relief, or not, chosen or forced.  Change can be scary.  But it's always a learning experience.

The opportunity to teach upper grades again seemed out of reach, but still something I pined for.  Four years ago I was transferred from 4th - a position tailor made for me! - to 2nd grade.  Second graders are vibrant, enthusiastic, loving and generally wonderful.  But boy have I missed those big kids!

In the last two weeks, an exciting opportunity has presented itself to me. Like every decision one faces, there are pros and cons.  I've spent a great deal of time mulling them over. And over, and over.  In my heart, I knew what I needed to do.

So, after much internal debate I see I need to make the scary choice to change: new grade, new school, new principal, new team.  Scary...but a learning experience.  Beth Houf wrote a great post in March about putting yourself into your "un-comfort zone" to learn, grow and change. http://principalhouf.blogspot.com/2015/03/finding-comfort-in-un-comfort-zone.html After reading it over more than a few times (Thank you Beth!) I know what I must do.  I need to change, to grow, stretch and learn and continue to push myself.  I need to take risks.

Sixth grade science here I come!
